Other Info[]

While their dapper appearance might make them look fairly weak to some, Dartrix are more than capable of proving themselves to be serious opponents worth noting in battle with their deceptive accuracy and power. They can regenerate lost feathers almost instantly when they are lost. The feathers in their wings are coated with an incredibly thin biofilm that hardens when exposed to air to grant them a razor-sharp tip; these special feathers are referred to as blade quills, and Dartrix utilize these feathers as their primary means of long-distance combat. They rarely ever miss their target; this is primarily due to the fact that the leaves that are growing out of their heads are supremely sensitive to minute changes in air currents, allowing them to locate any other presence in an area, even if they are hiding somewhere or are behind them, and strike them. What is truly amazing, though, is that Dartrix have the ability to bend their blade quills slightly before firing them, in turn allowing them to change the trajectories of their blade quills to get them to turn around corners and strike opponents when they least expect it. Overall, this makes Dartrix exceptionally skilled hunters and fighters in battle. Unfortunately for trainers, the attitude that these creatures display can make them a headache to train in some cases. Looking like old-time dandies, these birds act the part quite well and are constantly preening their feathers to keep themselves looking as clean and crisp as possible, seemingly out of a narcissistic, nervous habit instead of any biological reason. They are so obsessed with cleanliness, in fact, that if their feathers get even the slightest bit dirty or ruffled, they will stop fighting altogether and refuse to listen to their trainers and engage in battles until they have completely preened and cleaned themselves of the filth. In addition, these birds are a bit birdbrained; they tend to mess things up in and out of battle, and instead of admitting their mistakes, they may desperately struggle to gloss over their mistakes and move on, only to make a mistake that makes the situation even worse than before. This can make them very difficult to train in certain circumstances.
